When a crisis happens, the next 24 hours is likely the time window for the most amount of impact you can have in support of the group affected. An institution as a whole may have certain principles around who it gives funding to, but various groups within it may have more flexibility. For example, you’ll often find different responses to a natural disaster vs a humanitarian crisis due to political conflict.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
After some sort of humanitarian crisis, I looked to support vulnerable communities via Googler-led fundraising campaigns. Not only does this provide information on the issue at hand, it allows people to support in the ways they can. I work alongside the communities at hand (internally or externally) to identify an organization doing the work, then fuel funds towards them. This was done to support the people of Tigray, Ethiopia amidst the war and humanitarian catastrophe, Africans fleeing Ukraine facing discrimination, and Haitian migrants at US borders.
IMPACT
Raised $75k+ in funding across these groups. Folks across the company have been interested in taking this work further via other means of support (e.g. training + education, combatting misinformation, etc).
